Public potluck celebrating the Maidu Summit Consortium’s efforts in Humbug Valley Near Chester, CA, July 26, 2017– Another successful gathering was held in Humbug Valley this year honoring the Maidu Summit Consortium’s member group, Friends of Humbug. We served a potluck lunch to our estimated sixty public donors and guests as well as providing traditional art performances. The event was hosted at the Yellow Creek Hunters Camp, near Yellow Creek. The event was held in this new site, due to PG&E having closed its Yellow Creek Campground this year for maintenance, the typical location of our annual gathering.
“This family-friendly event means a lot to our many donors and volunteers. We enjoy providing this potluck gathering every Summer as a means of recognizing goodwill and celebrating the important commitment to our efforts shown by the public.” ~Kenneth Holbrook, Director The Friends of Humbug Gathering 2017 was sponsored by the following local companies; Feather River Land Trust, Sage Creek Insurance, Coldwell Banker Kehr/O’Brien, Feather River Properties, and Lassen Drug Co., who generously contributed to the cost of the festivities and to whom we are grateful. A raffle of many unique and special prizes was staged and many of our guests contributed to the fun.
“We all had an awesome time. Myself and the family were very touched by the event and the positive energy.” ~Wendy Planck, Friends of Humbug member Maidu Summit Consortium & Conservancy is a non-profit group representing nine member organizations of Maidu Indians of Lassen and Plumas Counties, in their united quest to protect and steward our traditional homelands.
